Leicester Demonstration for Trans Rights:

What’s Next?:

3RD

MAY 2025

First off—thank you. If you joined us at the Trans Rights Demonstration today, your presence mattered. Every person who showed up helped amplify a message of solidarity, visibility, and defiance in the face of ongoing attacks on trans rights. We proved that our community is powerful when we come together—but as we know, one protest is not the end. It’s the beginning of what must be an ongoing commitment.

So where do we go from here? How do we keep showing up for trans lives beyond the march?

Trans activist and educator Katie Neeves has compiled a brilliant list of actions you can take right now. You can read her full blog post here: All Women Should Be Worried, but here are some key highlights to get you started:

💸 Donate to the Fight for Justice

The Good Law Project—in collaboration with the UK’s first transgender judge, Victoria McCloud—is preparing to challenge recent harmful rulings in the European Court of Human Rights. This legal battle is crucial and potentially historic, but it’s expensive. If you’re able to, please donate to support their efforts.

📝 Write to Your MP

Raise your voice with those in power. Write to your MP to explain how these issues are affecting trans, non-binary, intersex people, and everyone who doesn’t conform to rigid gender norms. Letters carry more weight than emails—send one to:

[Your MP’s Name] MP, The House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA

Need help writing a strong letter? Use this excellent guide by Prof. Stephen Whittle OBE to make your voice count.

Join Ongoing Campaigns

The Trans Healthcare Campaign led by Leicester Citizens is always looking for passionate individuals—especially trans voices—to get involved. Email LLCHealthcareCampaign@gmail.com to find out how you can take part.

Stay informed, stay engaged, and look out for updates on initiatives like TransPilot, a developing project aiming to improve trans healthcare access and visibility.

🧠 Stay Educated, Stay Loud

Check out resources from organisations like TransActual UK, which uplifts trans voices and fights misinformation. Another brilliant resource is Trans Pilot – a new review platform for transgender, nonbinary, queer and intersex people in the United Kingdom to write their experiences when going to businesses, shops, events etc.

Trade is Leicester’s LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing charity, providing support around sexual health, HIV prevention, and broader wellbeing for LGBTQ+ communities.

The Fight Continues

Showing up once is powerful. But showing up again and again—in your community, in your conversations, in your inbox, at the ballot box—that’s how we make change.

Let today be your starting point. The protest may be over, but the movement is not.

Keep showing up. We need you.
Trans rights are human rights—always.
