For five decades, Leicestershire LGBTQ+ Centre has championed the rights, wellbeing, and visibility of LGBTQ+ people in Leicester.

Since our founding in 1976 as one of the UK’s first LGBTQ+ helplines, we’ve grown into a trailblazing force for inclusivity and change.

Today, we are the leading hub of support for LGBTQ+ communities across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. Through social and support groups, counselling services, community outreach, and practical advocacy, we provide a safe and inclusive space where people can come together, access support, and feel they belong.

Where we started

Leicestershire LGBTQ+ Centre started as one of the first LGBTQ+ telephone helplines in the UK in response to the need for accessible services within the LGBTQ+ Community. Fifty years later and we continue to tackle the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in LLR.
